Current news have been going on saying how the economic turndown affected Singaporeans in a big way, some lost their job, while others need charitable organisations' donation to survive on. Number of people went into bankruptcy throughout the world, and still more people are turning to indecent jobs to support their family.
Now tell me what's the reason that JTC is raising their rental fees, not minimally, but exponentially. While everyone is struggling to keep themselves afloat in this financial and economic crisis, they are trying to suck more money from people who are potentially jobless at the moment.
Like WTF. Yes I'm finally using the F word, cause they deserve nothing less. They are increasing our rent from about $1100, to more than $1700. Like hello! My dad's pay is even less than the new rent can! If they can find a way to pay for the rent AND our daily living with the amount of income we have now, I chop my head off for them. For a mere 4 room flat, with the constant exposure to the funerals that are going on just at the void deck 1 level below, being disturbed by the noise from the school directly opposite, cockroaches rushing in from the rubbish chute every time they started spraying insecticide, feeding the mosquitoes every day and night, feeling hot and stuffy even in the coolest days, are you sure it worth more than $1700 per month?? Use your brains, can? There are better ways to chase people off, really.
Couple with the criteria set by the government to buy flats, I wonder if there is space for those not so rich families to ever live here. We can bear with it when the government put edusave accounts exclusively for Singaporeans, we can bear with it when HE say Singapore PR are outsiders, we can bear with it when they give GST rebate for both the tourists and Singaporeans but NEVER PRs, we can bear with it when our PR-ship is bought by $50 per year, we can bear with it when we can only buy or rent flats from JTC, which has flats that are way above the normal prices for its own citizens. But if you really don't want us to be here, just tell us and say that you don't welcome any foreigners. Really, we know better than to stay here and "eat up your resources and jobs and study places". Don't go around saying that you really really appreciate the foreigners and want to get more of them to be here, when you actually only mean those that can provide you with extra tax collections and incomes, money for the country.
Really, don't get me wrong, I like living in Singapore and I have all my friends here, but if it wants to push us away, there is really nothing much we can do to force our presence here. If there is no place for us, we'll go.
I like it here, really, and I am very very very very very sadden by the fact that it is not reciprocated.
